Roaming in Europe : Dresden Germany to Prague, Czech

[series of travel in 2011]

(This information is written at October, 2011. Please check latest information.)

In this travel, I arrived in Frankfurt, Germany.
I went to Prague, Czech by a car.

Around the border between two countries, my iPhone caught T-mobile Czech's radio
and the Internet(3G/Edge) connection was lost.

I noticed a SMS was sent from the new career, T-Mobile CZ.
I read the message and sent the code for roaming plan, around 2.9 euro/day.

In a few minutes, my iPhone could do (3G/edge) communication again.

Prepaid SIM card in Germany

[series of travel in 2011]

(This information is written at October, 2011. Please check latest information.)

If you want to use prepaid SIM card in Germany, you can use Deutsch Telecom's one for talk, SMS, and using the Internet.

I bought it at Telekom shop in Dresden, Germany.
10 Euro's plan is cheapest, so I chose it.

Main usage of SIM card for me is using it with my SIM free iPhone.
For that purpose, you pay 0.99 euro/day for the Internet connection within Germany.

I could use Mail, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, and Google maps all through my
travel.
This plan was very useful and save time & cost, compared to my domestic career's international roaming plan - around 15$ per day.

(You can also find Vodafone's prepared plan, but in my case, at my travel, it was more expensive. O2 had no prepaid plan.)

"Vignette", a seal for driving highway in Czech Republic

[series of travel in 2011]

(This information is written at October, 2011. Please check latest information.)

If you drive into Czech Republic, you may need "Vignette" - toll for highways.

In my case, I bought it at a food store by the highway in Czech.
10 days pass is minimum, its price is around 250czk.
I didn't have Czech Koruna, I used VISA card to pay.
(In case you can't speak Czech, say "Vignette please" in English will work :)

Vignette must be shown on the car, so I put it on the
right side of front glass.

That's all, so simple.

I drove from Dresden in Germany into Prague in Czech.
I imagined there would be some kind of inspection, but found that there was no check.
